Glasslyn Vets Team BBQ – Good Food, Great Company & Plenty of Fun

Behind every busy day at Glasslyn Vets is a fantastic team — and every now and then, it’s important to put down the stethoscopes, step away from the phones and enjoy some time together!

Our Glasslyn Vets team recently enjoyed a well-deserved team BBQ at Coolcower House, bringing colleagues from across the practice together for an evening of good food, plenty of laughs and some very questionable singing!

A Day Out of the Clinic

The fun started with a bus journey to Coolcower House, with Christopher Bus Hire from Macroom getting us safely to and from the venue.

Once we arrived, it was time to relax, enjoy some drinks and tuck into an amazing BBQ. With everyone together in one place, there was plenty of time to catch up, chat and enjoy each other’s company away from the usual busy clinic environment.

And then came the games…

Let the Competition Begin!

Our friends at Celebs Entertainment kept everyone entertained with a selection of games and activities — and let’s just say that some members of the team discovered a competitive side they didn’t know they had!

There was plenty of laughter, a bit of friendly rivalry and, inevitably, some stories that probably won’t be making it into the official staff handbook anytime soon.

Celebrating Our Team

At Glasslyn Vets, our people are at the heart of everything we do. Our veterinary teams, nurses, receptionists, animal care assistants, administrators and support staff all play an important role in caring for our patients and their owners every day.

Team events like this give everyone the chance to relax, have fun and spend time together outside of work — and they are a great reminder of what makes the Glasslyn team so special.

A huge thank you to Coolcower House, Christopher Bus Hire and Celebs Entertainment for helping make it such a memorable evening.

And, of course, a massive thank you to our incredible Glasslyn team for making the night one to remember!

Good food, great company, questionable karaoke — we couldn’t ask for a better team. 💚

Wag & Walk with Glasslyn Vets – A Fantastic Day for a Great Cause

On Saturday 19 September, Glasslyn Vets swapped the consulting room for the great outdoors as we hosted our very first Wag & Walk with Glasslyn Vets, a 5-mile charity dog walk in aid of the Cork Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CSPCA).

And what a day it was!

We were joined by dogs and their owners from across the local community, all coming together for a fun afternoon of walking, wagging tails and supporting a fantastic cause. From energetic puppies to more leisurely walkers, there was plenty of enthusiasm along the route — and, of course, plenty of four-legged friendships made along the way.

Walking for a Cause

The Wag & Walk was about more than simply getting out for some fresh air. We wanted to bring our clients, their pets and the wider community together while raising much-needed funds for the CSPCA and the animals in their care.

Throughout the event, we also had a CSPCA donation station, giving walkers the opportunity to make an additional contribution on the day. We also set up a GoFundMe fundraising page so that people could continue supporting the charity before and after the walk.

The CSPCA does incredible work caring for animals in need and helping them find loving new homes, and we were delighted to be able to support them through this event.

Plenty of Fun Along the Way

Of course, no Glasslyn event would be complete without a little bit of fun!

There were prizes and competitions, plenty of wagging tails, and lots of happy faces along the route. Our raffle was also a huge success, with some fantastic prizes generously donated by local businesses and supporters.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who donated prizes, sponsored the event, helped with the organisation or simply turned up and took part. Events like this really are a team effort.

A Huge Thank You

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who joined us, donated, volunteered, sponsored, shared our posts and helped spread the word.

Your support helped make our first Wag & Walk such a success, and it was brilliant to see so many members of the Glasslyn community — both two-legged and four-legged — enjoying the day together.

Most importantly, every euro raised will help support the CSPCA and the animals who rely on their care.

We are already looking forward to the next one!

From all of us at Glasslyn Vets — thank you for walking with us, wagging with us and helping us make a difference. 🐶💚

A special thank you to our supporters

We are incredibly grateful to all the local businesses and suppliers who donated prizes, services and support for our Wag & Walk raffle and fundraising efforts. Your generosity helped make the event even more special.

RIP to our colleague Peadar

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague, Peadar Dineen, a founding partner of the Carbery practice in Dunmanway, a wonderful vet, a true gentleman, and a much‑loved part of the Carbery and Glasslyn Vets community. His kindness, professionalism and dedication touched so many people over the years.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Peadar’s family, friends, colleagues and clients

A Great Day Out

A Great Day Out at the Belgooly and Bandon Shows

May was a busy and enjoyable month for our team as we attended both the Belgooly Show and the Bandon Show with our information stall.

These events provided a fantastic opportunity to meet members of the local community, catch up with many of our regular clients, and introduce ourselves to new faces.

It was wonderful to see so many familiar pets and owners stopping by for a chat throughout both days.

We were delighted to hand out plenty of freebies and share advice on animal health and wellbeing with visitors. The dog shows were a particular highlight, and we were proud to sponsor and present prizes to some deserving canine competitors at the Bandon Show.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello. We had a fantastic time at both events and are already looking forward to next year’s shows!

Visiting Scoil Eoin, Innishannon

We had the best time visiting the kids from Scoil Eoin, Innishannon recently!

We were so impressed with their animal care knowledge as well as their interesting questions.

We discussed Pet Summer Safety tips, performed teddy bear surgery and listened to some happy hearts!

Thank you so much for having us!

We work closely with referring vets, teaming up to provide a specialist service that blends experience, precision, and a genuine fondness for small creatures with big personalities.

Meet the Heart Hero: Denise Philpott
Denise Philpott is an advanced practitioner in cardiorespiratory veterinary medicine. She graduated from the Free University of Berlin and has since brought her skills to both first-opinion and referral practices across Ireland and England.

Since earning her Certificate in Veterinary Cardiorespiratory Medicine in 2014, she has been an active member of the Veterinary Cardiovascular Society. She was also involved in the RAPID CAT 2 study, which explored how simple clinical parameters may help vets more easily distinguish cardiac from non-cardiac causes of breathing difficulties in cats. (In short: making life easier for both stressed kitties and the humans caring for them.)

Thank you

Back in August, we came together for a charity walk to honour of our wonderful colleague and friend, Don Cullinane. It was a day filled with laughter, stories, and connection — with our team, friends and family walking side by side in his memory.

Today, we had the privilege of visiting the two incredible charities receiving the funds raised: RNLI Kinsale and Bandon Community Hospital. We were met with such kindness and gratitude at both locations.

The RNLI team gave us a tour of their phenomenal facilities — we were blown away by their dedication and the life-saving work they do.

At Bandon Community Hospital, we were welcomed into a truly beautiful, homely space that radiates care and compassion. It’s clear how much this place means to the community.

We were proud to present a cheque for €5,851.50 to both, made possible by the generosity of our customers, suppliers, friends, and colleagues. Your donations matter — they help fund vital equipment, support frontline staff, and ensure these services continue to care for those who need them most.

Thank you for helping us turn remembrance into impact. Don would be proud

MUSKERRY VETS OPEN DAY (1)

Muskerry Vets Small Animal Open Day

On 12 June we hosted a fun family open day at our Macroom clinic.

It was a fun filled afternoon with free pet consults and goodie bags, hamper raffles, complementary coffee, sandwiches and cakes and a tour of the updated clinic. For the young ones we offered face painting and teddy bear surgery.

We also had the honour of having staff there from the CSPCA to discuss the adoption process and answerring questions.

We love hosting these events to meet new and exsisting clients, doting on our furry friends and also inspiring some future Vets and Vet Nurses!

Special thank you to the CSPCA, Dansa Coffee, Pickles, Castle Hotel, Duggans, Nutravet, C+M, MSD, Interchem and Trustvet for sponsorring prizes, joining us and offering your services 🙂

In Loving Memory of Don Cullinane

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our cherished colleague, Don Cullinane, early this morning (May 9th) following a brief illness. Don was our Financial Controller and Practice Manager but Don was more than that, he was a trusted friend and confidant to everybody in our team here at Glasslyn Vets.

His loss leaves a profound void , as he was not only an exceptional professional but also a generous, fun and supportive spirit.

Through the years, Don’s invaluable advice and friendship touched us all, and his contributions to Glasslyn were truly immeasurable.

We are forever grateful for having had the privilege to know and work alongside Don. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends, and all who are grieving his departure.

May he rest in peace, knowing the lasting impact he had on each one of us.
